World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the fact that many perks must be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be seen on all tooltips of items. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of the item can be found on the character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a sign of the item's damage and quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller is possible using the item's level.

On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is determined. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated using an equation that determines how valuable the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets boost the value of the item. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is usually close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

This is not the only factor that influences the value of an item. The location of where the item upgrader mod dropped can also change its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's level.

Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all shapes and sizes. Affixes can do things like give the item upgrader kit additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an additional name to the item.

Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circles arrows. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which of the available stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within that range unless they are an exclusive item, or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another thing that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to increase. But as with base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game and is thus more useful in early game runs than later ones because most players value greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) for a further +40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Furthermore, certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be found in the shop or crafted by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be costly and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it fails.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The chance of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. Each item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects could be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
